Hi Maine College Democrats!
On August 28, 2008, I had the opportunity to see Barack Obama officially accept the Democratic nomination at Invesco Field in Denver, Colorado. It was the capstone to an incredible week of inspiring Democratic activities, where I met a fascinating mix of people (including Ben Goodman), all working with tireless enthusiasm to promote the Democratic Party and prepare for the upcoming election. I frequently drew on this energy last fall, in the midst of countless hours of phonebanking, voter registration, and canvassing. The election of President Obama only heightened that energy. I am thrilled to be a part of a dynamic team of people looking to maintain the enthusiasm generated during the last election cycle to elect another Democratic governor in Maine in 2010.
I am a rising junior at Bowdoin College, and have been a member of the Bowdoin College Dems since my freshman year. I was Co-Communications Director of the Bowdoin Dems last year and am thrilled to have the opportunity to put that experience to good use as Communications Director of the Maine College Democrats. This year, I will also be serving as Co-President of the Bowdoin Dems.
I am excited for the upcoming year and am looking forward to working with all of you! I truly believe that, in the words of President Obama, “This is our moment. This is our time.” It is up to us to make the hopes from the past year reality in the next.
